This Botanical Optical image is created from a single photograph selected from hundreds of time-lapse photographs of pink Lilies made over a period of 64 hours as they flowered.

The lily family has traditionally represented innocence and purity. Artistic representations date back to ancient Greek and Roman civilizations and have been traced back to the Bronze Age in Crete. The pink varieties are also considered symbolic of prosperity and aspiration. Lilies are mentioned in the Old Testament, and in the New Testament, where they symbolise chastity and virtue. In both the Christian and pagan traditions, the lily has also been a symbol of fertility.
