The Flowering Quince, or Japonica, is a low-maintenance, deciduous shrub which matures at 6 to 10 feet tall. It enjoys a short blooming period in late winter or early spring with gorgeous salmon pink flowers and in the autumn produces small aromatic edible fruits which are commonly used as a jam or jelly ingredient.
It is native to China and other parts of Eastern Asia where it is believed to be an auspicious symbol of love, sincerity and happiness.
