Part of the onion family, this ornamental allium takes a long time to bloom and maybe this is why it has come to symbolize patience. Also prosperity, good fortune, and unity.
One of a series of flower portraits from my garden. The scape, or stalk, carries a dense umbellate inflorescence with purple star-like flowers. When it comes to nature the closer you get the more you see. I love the pattern and detail in these spherically shaped blooms. This image is blended from 20 shots at different focal points for enhanced clarity and depth of field.
