Viewed close up the passion flower (or Passiflora caerulea) could be some alien life form. They are incredibly architecturally complex, taking an abstract sculptural form, and quite fascinating through a macro lens.
This image is blended from 140 different shots taken at slightly different focus points to create the pin sharp detail from foreground to background which is otherwise not possible on a macro lens.
It reminds me a bit of those shots of a drop landing on liquid to create a corona splash effect, but as with many things in Nature the closer you get the more you see.
Extract of Passiflora has sleep inducing properties and can be good for anxiety. Although best not eat them as the leaves contain cyanide!
