With a flamboyant star quality, one of the most unique and stunning varieties of Tulip has to be the Parrot Tulip. They produce large irregular shaped flowers with exotic petals that resemble the feathers of a tropical Parrot. Flowering from April into May, Parrot Tulips produce some of the most spectacular striations of colour.
This is one of my home grown varieties called Estella Rijnveld. Planted in October, so I guess you could say this image took me 6 or 7 months to create!
Like most of my flower portraits this image is focus stacked for maximum depth of field. This one is blended from 40 shots at slightly different focal points to create an almost hyper-realistic effect.
