Agapanthus is native to various regions in Africa. Its name is derived from the Greek words "agape," meaning love, and "anthos," meaning flower. This translates to the 'flower of love', which seems quite fitting for its delicate, ethereal appearance.

Also known as Lily of the Nile or African lily, this beautiful flower symbolises love, beauty, purity and fertility.

The small individual blue and purple blooms are tubular and are clustered together in spherical inflorescences known as umbels. These clusters rise on tall stalks above the plant's strappy, grass-like foliage, creating a visually striking display.

This image is blended from 60 shots at different focal points for enhanced clarity and depth of field at large print sizes.

Archival pigment prints are made on smooth matt Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm heavyweight art paper.
