This Botanical Optical image is created from a single photograph selected from hundreds of time-lapse photographs of a white Gladiolus made over a period of 144 hours as it flowered.
Gladioli have a uniquely long and pointed shape. Because of their shape, they are named after the Latin word “gladius”, meaning sword. In Rome, gladioli were associated with gladiators, and consequently, the gladiolus flower has come to represent strength and integrity.
