Swamp lilies, or Crinum powellii are also sometimes referred to as Spider lilies. They grow from big, amaryllis-like bulbs. They have long strappy leaves and fragrant trumpet-shaped pink flowers that grow in clusters. The plants bloom on and off from early through late summer. In Greek mythology, the lily flower symbolized the goddess Hera and represented rebirth and fertility. Lilies in many cultures are generally associated with femininity, love, purity and transience.
