A series of studio portraits of a panther, or black leopard. Panthers are more commonly known these days as black leopards or black jaguars. The coloring is caused by melanism and gives the black leopard an advantage in the dense forests they are native to, where light levels are low. The leopard’s spotted markings are visible but hidden by the dark pigmentation.
