This image is created from time-lapse photographs of a red and a purple gladiolus made over a period of 64 hours as they flowered.
The Gladiolus flower signifies infatuation, telling the receiver that he or she pierces the heart. Because of their shape, they are named after the Latin word “gladius”, meaning sword. In Rome, gladioli were associated with gladiators, and consequently, the gladiolus flower has also come to represent strength of character, faithfulness, and integrity.
