"Waiting for my mistress". This is Biggie the Frenchie, from a series of four images inspired by the 17th century golden age of Dutch still life painting. Often referred to as “Dutch Masters”. And of course, my love of dogs!
These paintings often featured food, flowers, and household props such as bottles and glassware. They have an instantly recognizable style characterised by impeccable composition and the use of directional light. Well-known artists include Willem Claesz. Heda and Willem van Aelst.
