Two new prints from my award-winning Flower Portrait series. Available for 7 days only.

Each of these graphic and colourful prints will add a dramatic focal point to any room.

Still-life photography allows us to marvel at the astonishing details in nature’s grand design. When you magnify flowers you make heroes of them and appreciate them in a new way. When focus-stacked from many shots at different focus points I can achieve full depth of field in a way that is otherwise impossible when using a macro lens. Detail, form, texture and colour are emphasised in an almost hyper-realistic way. I like to think that these elements combine to create different personalities, which is why I call them flower portraits.

These unique prints are offered in 4 edition sizes in very small limited editions for a time-limited sale period of 7 days only. I don't know if or when they will be offered again. When an edition sells out it will become unavailable forever, and no more prints within that edition size will ever be printed again.

Each print is individually numbered, and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

Professional wooden framing in white or oak options is offered in the Small and Medium editions. We are happy to advise on custom framing for the Large and Extra Large sizes, and can arrange to quote for this on request.

The Gazania is also known as the Treasure Flower. It is a resilient and drought-resistant daisy-like flower native to South Africa.

One interesting feature of these funky little flowers is that they are light-sensitive. They close at night like inside-out umbrellas and then open wide again in sunlight. This has given them a symbolic association with hope, renewal and new beginnings. They also represent both spiritual and material wealth in many cultures.

Their dazzling colours attract pollinators, and their leaves are said to be used in folk medicine for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Echinops, commonly known as globe thistle, is native to Europe, Asia, and Africa. Like echinacea, it gets its name from the Ancient Greek word 'echinos' meaning 'hedgehog' in reference to its spiny, globe-shaped seedheads.

Known for its resilience and toughness, it is also an ancient Celtic symbol for noble character. In Scotland, the Globe Thistle signifies bravery, often associated with warriors. This originates from a battle in the 15th century when invading Norman soldiers got stranded in a field of thistles while attempting a surprise attack at night. Their prickly predicament gave them away and the Scottish warriors successfully defended themselves against the enemy.

Beyond its resilience, the Blue Globe Thistle is also celebrated for its ability to attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

This image is blended from 60 shots at different focal points for enhanced clarity and depth of field at large print sizes.
